Members alongside the River Wey after lunch

Fourteen Tamesis members took part in the annual Laser Ramble organised and led by Donald Forbes.  Twelve members took part in an energetic walk through the Surrey Hills and were joined by two others for lunch at the Manor House Beefeater Restaurant near Godalming.

Warm sunshine made the morning walk an enjoyable experience with the route taking in sections of the old Wey and Arun canal as well as the River Wey and the passing of a horse drawn passenger barge on its leisurely way to Farncombe added to the atmosphere.  In the afternoon light rain failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the walkers who all seemed to enjoy this annual occasion designed for sailors and families alike.

Two lady ramblers fell behind when they stopped to “water” the dog and by the time they reached the next turning they were not sure whether to turn to port or starboard. Fortunately, the OOD soon became aware of the two missing participants and patrolled them back to the main fleet. On the way home one of them felt very tired, and had to resort to raising the green flag or shouting eh eh!
