Teddington River Festival

The Teddington River Festival was held on Teddington Lock Island and the Surrey bank of the Thames on Sunday 27 July. Commodore Stewarft Colley towed his Laser and one of the Club’s Mirrors down to the Lock behind the Club launch with the help of Vice Commodore Carolyne Vines, Offshore Group Captain Clive Mence, and Florian, David and Sara Krueger. They were met at the Lock by Adrian, Sally and Rosalind Warwick-Haller, Nicky Chavasse and Sue Harris. Tamesis members celebrate Peggy’s 93rd birthday

More than 40 Tamesis members gathered in the Clubhouse after racing on Sunday 20 July to celebrate the 93rd birthday of Peggy Morris, who joined the Club in 1948, sailing an International 14 with her late husband. Commodore Stewart Colley congratulated Peggy on her longevity and wished her a very happy birthday on behalf of all the members. He invited them all to join in a toast and share a glass of champagne and a slice of birthday cake after lunch. Everyone sang Happy Birthday.

Four Tamesis sailors join Dragon Boat Challenge

Four Tamesis sailors joined the KAG Paddlers team that came an amazing fifth out of 54 competing teams in Kingston Rotary Club’s Dragon Boat Challenge on Sunday 20 July. This annual event is held on the Thames beside Canbury Gardens and attracts huge crowds of competitors, supporters and families enjoying the spectacle and usually raises over £50,000 for charities. The KAG Paddlers team was recruited and organised by Jim Green to raise funds for KAG Advocacy where he is an advocate and trustee. David and Abigail Croft win Old Boat Prize at Salcombe Merlin Week

Caroline Croft was best placed Tamesis member at 14th David Croft and his daughter Abigail won the Old Boat Prize in Panatella (MR 3165) at Salcombe Merlin Week from 6 to 11 July at which they finished 41st overall. David’s other daughter Caroline was 14th overall crewing for Ben Hollis in MR 3688. Andy Douglas was 26th crewing for Will Rainey in MR 3752. There were 126 entries.
