STAR OF STAGE, SCREEN AND Y&Y

The just published December edition of the Yachts & Yachting has a literally scintillating picture of Odyssey on page 91 along with an article on our N18 UK Inland Championship, courtesy of Paula Irish the Y&Y Clubs and Classes editor. In addition to the 2015 annual A-Z of Dinghies and other articles, the magazine has a good article on Winter Series Weather … just right for our SailJuice Series participants.  It even cites some Rutland water specifics. 2015 Cadet Bake Off

The 2015 end of season Cadet Bake Off took place on Saturday 7th November. Good timing as strong gusty wind rather curtailed on the water activities. There was great anticipation as 8 splendid entries made their way to the clubhouse over the afternoon, providing a demanding job for the judges, Vice Commodore and Commodore Carolyne and Stewart. They somehow rose to the challenge (Ha Ha!) as a crowd of hungry Cadets and supporters gathered round. Nick Forbes wins schools championship at Cowes

Saturday 31 October saw Nick Forbes sailing as bow man on a J80 in the UKSA Independent Schools Sailing Championship off Cowes in lightish winds. His team of five representing The Royal Grammar School, Guildford, won all three races to take an easy victory. The team hadn’t sailed keelboats before but with two of their crew already holding the Public Schools Firefly Championship, they were always going to be hard to beat. On the Sunday in winds too light to venture out of Cowes in J80s, against Spring tides, the racing was switched to Laser dinghies in the River Medina.
