Nick Forbes wins schools championship at Cowes

rgs keelboat sailing tweetSaturday 31 October saw Nick Forbes sailing as bow man on a J80 in the UKSA Independent Schools Sailing Championship off Cowes in lightish winds. His team of five representing The Royal Grammar School, Guildford, won all three races to take an easy victory. The team hadn’t sailed keelboats before but with two of their crew already holding the Public Schools Firefly Championship, they were always going to be hard to beat.
On the Sunday in winds too light to venture out of Cowes in J80s, against Spring tides, the racing was switched to Laser dinghies in the River Medina. Fifteen boats took part and with the honour of his school (and Tamesis Club) to defend, Nick won both races.
