Earlier in the week a few of us attended Mike Goldsmith’s farewell in Saffron Walden. The transcript of the ceremony is now included in the news post.
Sadly, we lost John Harris last Thursday. He had a stroke recently, from which he never recovered. There is more about him on the news item below. He was at the club very recently, and is sorely missed by family and friends. His funeral will take place on Tuesday 4th December, 2pm at Mortlake Crematorium and then back to the club.
The clubhouse and grounds hosted the Teddington Head on Saturday. The whole place was buzzing. Our neighbours Walbrook Rowing Club organised the event. Racing took place downriver from Hampton Court. Apparently 345 crews took part. Amazing.
We are looking for volunteers to fill the following posts after the AGM which is late February. Nominations need to be in by 2nd December.
Brian Timbrell who has been Sailing Secretary for a number of years is standing down at the AGM in February. We are therefore looking to take over from him. It’s a great job.
We need someone with enthusiasm and willingness to learn, who is not shy of admin. It’s a great way to get more involved with the club. You definitely don’t need to have been a member for a long time. Please e mail Jim Green on email@example.com, or me on firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
