Sunday morning was certainly bright and beautiful. I believe there was ice in the boats before rigging, but enough wind to get everyone around, and to put up the spinnakers. Good to see one of the novices out crewing in a National 18.
I believe I caused some confusion last week when advertising the Rules Talk which is at Minima YC on 30th January, not Tamesis. If you do arrive at Tamesis you will find the weekly meeting of the Bridge group. New members with a basic knowledge of the game are always welcome. Please contact Margaret Stokes on firstname.lastname@example.org or on 020 8949 4098.
Boat Covers – Alan Green is meeting a boat cover maker at Tammy on Wednesday 23rd at 1100 who will measure up two National 18′ for new covers, and would be happy to look at other boats if requested. Phillip Bull is from Rain and Sun who made the cover for Midnight (the club Wayfarer). His contact numbers are 07786 393539 or 02380 230444. Philip will be measuring up for a boom up cover which the makers don’t seem to like making unless they measure it themselves.
Looking forward to:
Thursday 7th February – Club Supper and Talk. This month we are hosting Dr Scott and Mrs Hilary Pereira who will be telling us about the Yacht Lilian, launched in 1916. A fascinating tale of a beautiful boat. More information on the event page. Supper is £10 pp. Please either sign up in the book in the clubhouse or email Nicky Johnson on email@example.com.
Saturday 16th February – Vice Commodore’s Dinner where the Uffa Spoon is awarded to the person or persons deemed to have made the silliest gaff of the year. Sign up list will be in the clubhouse soon. Watch this space!
See you soon
