Thursday Evening, Saga Race 8
The race was contested by nine entrants over a long course. After a faintly chaotic start, several Lasers were late as they were finding the rigging for the Club boat, the competitors contended with fitful winds which had changed after the course had been laid. See the report by John Adams in News on the website.
Andy Harris’s Cadets session went well in lighter winds. Some cadets missed out on the doughnuts because of the time they spent changing and had to settle for a biscuit. See the photographs on the website.
SUMMER PARTY – Saturday Evening
The Summer Party went with a swing. Over seventy Members and their friends enjoyed the excellent buffet supper, which the hardier souls ate in the marquee on the lawn. The band, Inside Track, really hit the right note and everyone seemed to be dancing and enjoying the music until 11.30.
The success of the party is also due to the tremendous effort of preparation and we must thank all the House Committee for their invaluable help in organising, purchasing and preparing for the party and for producing some delicious quiches and puddings.
Thanks must also be given to the kitchen and bar staff – Josefine, Dylan, Tabitha and David – who ran a superb operation on the night, ensuring that the food never ran out.
Sunday 23rd June – Handicap and Summer Series 8
Racing took place in a fitful wind which varied between Northerly and Easterly. After running a straight end-to-end course for the 10.30 race, OOD Charles Fox threw in a dog-leg for the main race. Great to see five Toppers racing in the main Series race this week and congratulations to Andy Harris with a Birthday win. See the photographs on the website.
