Tammy Matters

Dear all

Commodore Chris is on the high seas for a couple of weeks, so has asked me to take over Tammy Matters in his absence.

We’ve had a busy weekend – the annual Cadet Bake Off on Saturday produced a fabulous array of beautifully baked and decorated cakes – see the pictures in the news.

The Trowlock Trophy Handicap Pursuit race took place on Sunday with the weather being a complete contrast to the day before.  See what happened in the news item.

This coming Thursday 7th November will be the first of the winter Thursday evening suppers.  No talk this month – just come and enjoy an evening out at the club in good company.  Please book with Nicky Johnson on nickyjohnsontamesis@gmail.com.

Sunday 10th November – normal club racing – 1030 handicap race followed class racing at the normal times.

The Bridge Group are holding their Bridge Drive in aid of Help for Heroes.  There will be a raffle for which anyone can buy tickets.  All prize contributions gratefully received.  This takes place from 3pm following the racing.

Please see the following note from Sailing Secretary, Tim Medcalf about the upcoming Prize Giving on Saturday 23rd November.

As many of you will be aware, the club is hosting the annual Prize Giving Dinner on the evening of 23rd November in the clubhouse.  This is an opportunity to reflect on the year’s racing, to congratulate all those who took part, and to recognise the winners in each race series.  The evening will be hosted by Chris Pollard and Peter Johnson, two outstanding comperes.
Prizes will be awarded to all of the following racers: Matthew Valentine, Matty Key, Alexander Hoo, Maisie Key, Alden Horwitz, Alfie Williams, Jim Hamilton, Matthew Dalton, Cathy Dalton, Anna Dalton, Ruth Dalton, James Berry, Rupert Fletcher, Richard Harris, Emma McDonald, Peter Mason, Richard Mason, Joe McLaughlin, Sean Roberts, Berry Ritchie, Sue Harris, Valerie Hamill, Matthew Peregrine-Jones, Stewart Colley, Henry Defries, Chris Taggart, Charles Fox, Robert Blakeborough, Mark Gardner, Chris Pollard, Caroline Stilwell, Carolyne Vines, Garrie Mallen, Susan Green, George Baker, Humphrey Dorrell, Alan Green, Peter Konidaris, Ellen Schwartz, Tim Medcalf, Veronique Medcalf, Edward Medcalf, Henry Medcalf, Charlie Morgan, John Adams, and Zoe Adams.
If your name is on the list and you would like to find out what you have won, book your tickets for the dinner by email with Nicky Johnson (nickyjohnsontamesis@gmail.com)!  Don’t forget to also invite family and friends to what is always an excellent event.
Catering promises to be a luxurious affair with a three course dinner, a vegetarian option (please confirm if you would like this when you contact Nicky), and a special menu for under-18s.  Ticket prices are £25 for adults and £10 for under-18s.’

Eric Finlayson wants to start doing more Patrol Boat Training – essential for those who are soon to be doing a duty and not done one before, or a really good refresher for those who need one.  This is free, and participants receive a Handbook which is an excellent guide on what to do.  Please email Eric on finlaysone2@aol.com to book.

See you soon
