My thanks to Carolyne for holding the fort with Tammy Matters whilst I was away.
Last Week 19th to 25th November
Saturday 23rd November – The Autumn Dinner and Prize Giving was held and was well attended by 60 members. Huge thanks to Nicky Johnson for the superb organisation. The food was delicious and the mood remained festive with a long stream of prizes to be handed out. It was particularly good to see the considerable number of our younger members who attended. Tim Medcalf has written a report on the proceedings and has listed the winners in the various classes. See News.
Sunday 24th November – The river was still running quickly and there was very little wind. Stewart Colley entered the 10:30 race in which he completed half a lap. The course was altered for the main Series races but as, after 20 Minutes, no-one had rounded the first mark, racing was abandoned. See News.
Carolyne Vines and Simon Thompson went to the RYA Regional Conference in Maidstone. Details of what was discussed will be reported to the Management Committee and any subjects considered important for us will be highlighted in a later Tammy Matters.
This Week 26th November to 2nd December
Sunday 1st December – Winter Series 6 will take place, conditions permitting. There is notice of a Canoe Club event and, as a result, our first start is re-scheduled to 11:30.
Next Week. 3rd to 9th December
The first Thursday Supper and Talk is to be an explanation of how the Club’s various IT functions work. Explanations of the various software packages we use will be presented by Club members and we hope that we can demystify the operation of the Website and Dutyman for members. A news item is in preparation and confirmation of this event will be given in next week’s Tammy Matters.
Sign up in the Clubhouse or email Nicky on email@example.com. This is really important to allow us to gauge numbers for supper.
The Club Christmas Lunch will be held on Sunday 15th December. Sign up for this very popular event as soon as possible as the numbers are limited to about 100. A poster is in preparation and a list will be available in the Club or you can book by email to Nicky on firstname.lastname@example.org.
The annual Christmas Pudding races will take place as well, on the same day.
