Last Week 10th to 16th December
Sunday 15th December – In the 10:30 Handicap race this week, Matt P-J had some opposition, in the form of Peter Impey and Tim Ginn. Both found it hard work to defeat the strong stream with a marginal South-westerly but they showed the route to take. As the time for the Winter Series 8 races approached, the wind got livelier and good fleets of 7 Merlins and 6 Lasers contested the Christmas Pudding races with enthusiasm despite the stream becoming even stronger. See News.
Following this the Club Christmas Lunch was held. With a sellout 100 attending it was a splendid meal served up by Ollie the chef. Santa Claus visited and Carols were sung. A dishwasher failure was a minor blemish as it slowed service but all seemed to enjoy themselves although the rising tide which threatened to surround the clubhouse was a matter of some concern, mercifully of no consequence. It was really pleasing to see so many of the Club’s younger members there. See News.
This Week 17th to 23rd December
Sunday 22nd December. The 10:30 Handicap race followed by the Winter Series 9 races will take place.
Monday 23rd December. Christmas Pilates class on Monday morning at 10.30 to which the teacher, Jo Zorian, invites Club members, at £10 for the session. She also asks, if you come to it, to bring a mat if you have one. The class is pitched for all ages and abilities – she states that ‘we intend to have fun’ and there will be coffee and mince pies afterwards.
Next Week 24th to 30th December
Thursday 26th December The annual Boxing Day races will be held.
Sunday 29th December. The 10:30 Handicap race followed by the Winter Series 10 races will take place.
Further Ahead
Thursday 9th January 2020 Club Supper and talk- details to follow.
Saturday 1st February The Vice Commodore’s Dinner.
A Long Way Ahead but for early consideration – Following last year’s very successful Summer Camp, Tim Medcalf has organised one for 2020 with the option of a second week if the demand is there. See last week’s Tammy Matters for Tim’s resume which will be republished at intervals.
