Tamesis Club

Virtual Race Trial 5th April 2020

Two dozen enthusiastic Tamesis Club sailors stepped up to the challenge of trying their hand at eSailing on Sunday morning.
Three trial fleet races were run using 49er dinghies at a variety of locations – Kiel, Aarhus, and Cagliari.
It didn’t take long for the club’s competitive spirit to come through as the penalty flags lit up the leader board at the start of the first race!
There were plenty of port-starboard shenanigans, sketchy mark rounding, tricky shifts, and swift downwind legs.  Just like the real thing!
Champagne sailing was the order of the day and we saw a variety of sailors podium as adult real world sailing experience was challenged by more youthful and skilled virtual games players.
The feedback from competitors was very positive and, starting this week, there will be a Thursday evening series as well as more extensive racing on Sunday mornings.
If you weren’t at the front, now is the time to go in to extreme self-isolation and start practising!
