Junior and Social sailors revel in the breeze

Once again, the club was delighted to see a large and enthusiastic turnout at Saturday’s Junior Sailing session.  We were pleased to welcome some new Junior members who all acquitted themselves admirably and we look forward to seeing them again next week!

Hot on the heels of the Juniors came a nascent group of Social Sailors, an initiative proposed by new member Sophie Harrison.  Three Lasers helmed by Sophie, Humphrey and Martin took to the water and worked their way along the river getting to grips with the shifty conditions.

Organised Social Sailing is something that used to be a fixture in the club’s calendar and the Sailing Committee would be interested to hear from any member who would be keen to join such a group and/or has ideas about how it could be run (contact Tim Medcalf).

Below are some pictures from the Junior Sailing session published with thanks to Jonathan Key who, as birthday boy on Saturday, enjoyed a socially distanced glass of champagne on the veranda after his snapper duties were completed.

Thanks also to Andy Harris and the rest of the volunteer parents for supporting Junior Sailing, especially Nim Harris who provided the much-needed refreshments.
