Record Fund Raising Bridge Drive Sun 13th November

The Tamesis Bridge Group held their biannual bridge drive last Sunday.  The funds raised go to the Help for Heroes charity. The club room was packed out with 15 tables.  Organiser Margaret Stokes directed the efforts in providing all the materials, including the all important home baked cakes and home made sandwiches.
The funds were augmented by the raffle – many thanks to all those who donated prizes and bought tickets.
The drive raised an amazing and record breaking £1000 which will go straight to Help for Heroes
The bridge drives have been going for about twenty five years, and were the brain child of the late and sorely missed Viv Burchill

Charity Bridge Drive 9th November

For the past fourteen or fifteen years the Tamesis Bridge Group has held, twice a year, a Charity Bridge Drive. Often these have been for either our chosen charity, the “Shooting Star”, or the Club.

For the past four years we have held our November Drive in aid of “Help For Heroes” – once or twice actually on the 11th November.

The most recent one had 14 tables and raised just over a thousand pounds which, after expenses (prizes, etc.) realised £870. Some £350 of that came from the raffle – we sold £80 worth of tickets to club members prior to the event.

A very nice tea was provided for all participants and it should be noted that all the food for the tea and all the raffle prizes were donated by the Bridge Group. So, a big thank you to all raffle ticket buyers, sandwich and cake makers and prize donors.
