Sun 26 Mar New RYA Powerboat 2 Certificates awarded
The first RYA 1 and 2 Powerboat Courses this year took place over the Sundays 19th and 26th March.
Chief Powerboat Instructor Simon Thompson was pleased to award Ellen and Lucian Schwartz and Howard Thatcher with the Certificates after the end of the course on Sunday 26th March. They were presented by Commodore Carolyne Vines
Fun on the river last Sunday
There was a lot going on on the river last Sunday. Firstly, the Tudor Pull which was a flotilla of boats led by the Gloriana on their way from Hampton Court to the Tower
The dories were showing off their new signage – all thanks to Tom Mclaughlin
We had a great race
Then there was the training done by our team of instructors Eric, Alan, Stewart, Peter, Malcolm, Michael and Howard

Racing and training Sunday 10th April
Racing took place in a gusty south easterly (ish) and lots of fun was had by all. Was hard work though! Photos below

Dinghy training at Tamesis from early March
Dinghy training is coming to Tamesis Club this year starting in March, including RYA affiliated L1 and L2 courses!
As arranged by Rear Commodore Sailing, Alan Green, and run by Chief Instructor from Ariel Eric Finlaysone, the following courses will be taking place:
Assistant Instructor Course
For Tamesis members wishing to assist in RYA sailing training courses (as will be offered by Tamesis in 2015). Assistant Instructor is the first stage towards becoming a qualified Instructor, for which a season’s practical training work will be required after the Assistant Instructor course.
Dates: Sunday afternoons 08/15/22/29 March
Cost: no charge for instruction
RYA Level 1 Sailing Course
For members and in particular non-members who are interested in training to start sailing. This course begins just 2 weeks after the Tamesis/RYA “Push the Boat Out” Open Day when the club hopes to welcome members of the public new to sailing.
Dates: Sunday afternoons 24/31 May, 07/14 June
Cost: to be advised
RYA Level 2 Sailing Course
For members and in particular non-members who are interested in consolidating basic sailing skills taught at Level 1. This course is a natural follow-on from Level 1.
Dates: Sunday afternoons 28 June, 05/12/19 July
Cost: to be advised

Further training
It is the intention of the club to offer RYA courses in seamanship, spinnaker work, sailing racing, and powerboat handling. Announcements will be made on the web site and at the clubhouse.
