Race training

Eric Finlayson reports that on Thursday 17 March instructors, assistants and several “guinea pig” students took part in a trial race training event under the watchful eye of Ben Kimbell of the RYA .
Despite an extremely flukey on shore wind, members practised starts, mark rounding and other skills.
Michael Vasey, crewed by Cherry Erlich, showed  how to make a text book start in a Laser 2000 (see picture below).

A further session is planned (for which volunteers are welcome) after which we hope to achieve recognition and offer race training later in the year.  Meanwhile RYA courses in sailing and powerboat handling are on offer as usual.
