This Sunday was the first in the Annual Travellers Series where Tamesis welcomes sailors from other clubs who can bring their boats and compete in racing until early March. Social Evening - Thursday 8th January
Talk by Peter Bide The clubhouse was full for this fascinating talk by Peter Bide in which he made us aware of Forensic Geology and then stretched our understanding from Stonehenge, to dinosaurs, ancient ship movements, aircraft crashes and modern cargo vessels going aground. Christmas Festivities Sunday 14th December Racing and Lunch
Sunday Racing - Report Marcus Chavasse The turnout was good in the sunshine with a South-Westerley wind that gently increased through the morning with a few challenging gusts. Social Evening Thursday 4th December - Talk on the Work of the local charity - Habitats and Heritage.
Thursday 4th December saw the second of this winters Supper and Talks. Stephen Fielding from Habitats and Heritage returned to the Club to talk about the building conservation work of this charity. Each unique in many ways and bound into the history of the area, Stephen included Sir Joseph Bazalgette's Mausoleum, Lord Kilmorey's Mausoleum, Grove Gardens Chapel and an air raid shelter in Mortlake. The first supper and talk of the season was a great success. 47 people attended. Rob Hatley delivered a fascinating and engaging record of his time as first mate on Maria Asumpta with a sad and emotional end to a beautiful ship. The day dawned lovely and sunny, but the wind seemed to have disappeared overnight. Nevertheless fourteen boats took to the water to compete in the annual Trowlock Trophy Pursuit Race.
