Report by Marcus Chavasse

I arrived at the club in the middle of the Blue races, in time to witness a number of capsizes in the lively conditions. A gusty North-Westerly was blowing for these last races of a much-interrupted Winter Series.

Matt Valentine won the Blue Laser race ahead of Peter Impey. Rob Hatley crewed by Tim Ginn were ahead of Joe Woods and Ken Duffell in the Merlins and Charles Fox and Robert Blakeborough beat Alison Cooper and Andrew Craig in the N18s.

In the White races, the Merlins were racing for the Geoff Cooper memorial Trophy. Richard Harris crewed by Emma McDonald took the trophy. They were followed by Rob Hatley and Tim Ginn and after that Ken Duffell and Joe Woods.

In the Lasers, I battled round with Matt Valentine. I just gained the advantage by requesting room on the inside round the last mark. Peter Impey came in third. The N18 results were as for the first race.

Thank you to John and Jean Meredith and the race/ patrol boat team including Peter and Pauline Fryer, Clive Mence, Brendan Hills, Alastair Banks and Chris Pollard.

Thanks to Chris Wade for catching the synchronised Laser action on camera. You can see several more of the action on our Facebook page,

There were many in the club afterwards enjoying drinks from the bar and tasty sandwiches prepared by the staff.
