Tamesis Sunday 3rd March
Published 10:48 on 2 Mar 2024
Unfortunately racing on Sunday was cancelled. The decision was made after looking the strength of the stream - at the time the decision was made the flow was over 300m3 per second at Kingston Bridge. There wasn't much wind forecast, and there wasn't much wind on the morning.
However, all was not lost as sailmaker Frank Rowsell spent most of the day with merlin owners looking at their sails, and taking a few orders by account. The car park was a sea of merlins, though none went anywhere near the water.
The veranda was crowded with members at lunch time enjoying the sun, sandwiches and drinks.
The wildlife was either taking advantage of the skiing downstream, or like the swan below on a workout.
Thanks go to Geoff Bayliss and helpers for being on standby to run the racing, and Charlotte and team for keeping us fed and watered.
