Annual General Meeting. Sunday 25th February

Published 18:50 on 28 Feb 2024
This report was taken from Commodore Marcus Chavasse's words in Tammy Matters.
Some 50 plus members gathered in the clubhouse after an excellent hot lunch provided by Jean-Michel and his team.
Changes to the line-up of officers were endorsed. The Commodore thanked in particular Peter Johnson who was stepping down as Vice Commodore for all his support, and was delighted that the club will be retaining his input in his new role as Rear Commodore (Facilities) looking after our buildings and estate. Thanks were also extended to Jonathan Key who has stepped down from being Hon. Sailing Secretary. This post remains vacant and if anyone would like to talk about becoming more involved in running our sailing affairs please be in contact with Marcus or Andy Harris, Rear Commodore Sailing.
Marcus was delighted to welcome Carolyne Vines into the role of Club Captain. Carolyne is the third person to have been given the honour of taking this role. Despite the two previous holders both being called Phil, they shaped very different roles. Phil England, as Club Hon. Architect looked after the buildings, estate, Wednesday Working Party as well as at different times juniors and other aspects of the club. Carolyne brings together knowledge of many aspects of the club that touch on much beyond the obvious calendar management, volunteering coordination, RYA liaison, news reporter and prompter of Wednesday Working Party activity.
He welcomed Ros Warwick-Haller to the position of Vice Commodore. It should be noted that Ros is only the third woman to hold this rank.
