RYA Adult Courses
RYA Adult Courses: Level 1 and Level 2
Our RYA adult courses provide high-quality tuition for beginners and improvers over a single weekend in a friendly, supportive setting. You'll receive plenty of guidance on the water, hands-on coaching and the chance to make fast, confident progress.
We offer both RYA Level 1 and Level 2, giving you the skills to rig, launch and sail a dinghy independently. Once you achieve Level 2 and become a member, you can enjoy free use of more than 20 club dinghies, along with regular Social Sailing afternoons a great way to practise, build confidence, meet new people and feel part of our community.
We use comfortable double-handed dinghies, giving you the chance to learn both helming and crewing. Instructors begin in the boat with you to demonstrate skills, then gradually progress you to more independent sailing with guidance from a safety boat.
RYA Level 1 - Start Sailing (2 days)
A relaxed introduction for beginners. Very practical and hands-on, covering rigging and launching, steering and sail control, tacking and gybing and essential safety.
RYA Level 2 - Basic Skills (2 days)
Ideal for those who have completed Level 1 or have some experience. Builds independence and confidence, covering sailing a triangular course, improved boat handling, man overboard recovery and capsize awareness. RYA Level 2 is widely recognised across the UK as the point at which you can hire or rent dinghies it's your passport to sailing beyond the course.

23rd & 24th May: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
30th & 31st May: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
4th & 5th July: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
11th & 12th July: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
26th & 27th September: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
17th & 18th October: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
24th & 25th October: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.
31st & 1st November: RYA Level 1 or 2 - places available.

Level 1 - £265
Level 2 - £265
Level 1 and Level 2 - discounted price £440
Book both courses together and receive one third off Level 2 - a great saving for anyone planning to continue their sailing journey.

Our groups are small and places always disappear fast, we'd love to see you on the water, so book early and join the adventure!
Cancellation Policy
Bookings on training courses are only confirmed once the club is in receipt of the relevant paperwork and full payment has been made.
A full refund will be provided if a written request for cancellation is received within 14 days of the booking being confirmed and at a point more than 30 days before the start of the training.
In the event of a cancellation being requested after the initial 14 days period, Tamesis Club will provide a full refund if a suitable replacement trainee is found either by the club or the cancelling party (the club tries to support this process by operating a waiting list but can not guarantee to be able to find a replacement).
In the event that a course participant, through illness or otherwise, missed the start of (or any other part of) a course, Tamesis Club is under no obligation to offer completion of the course or any refund or to transfer the booking.
Tamesis Club reserves the right to vary course details, dates and prices without prior notice.
