RYA Youth Courses
RYA Youth Courses: Stages 1 to 4 and Advanced Modules
Our RYA youth courses give sailors aged 8-15 a fantastic week on the water, building skills, confidence and friendships in a fun, supportive environment. Open to beginners and improvers alike, courses run from 08:30-18:00 (09:00-17:00 in October), offering flexibility for parents and a fuller, more sociable experience for children. With higher-than-recommended instructor ratios, our small groups ensure personal coaching and a friendly environment where every child feels confident and included.
RYA Youth Stages 1 to 4
Stage 1 - Start Sailing: First taste of sailing, learning basic boat handling and safety.
Stage 2 - Basic Skills: Build confidence sailing independently, including steering, sail control and manoeuvres.
Stage 3 - Better Sailing: Improve technique and boat handling, sailing more confidently in different conditions.
Stage 4 - Seamanship: Advanced skills in a crewed dinghy, focusing on control, teamwork and decision-making.
RYA Advanced Modules
Seamanship Skills: Advanced boat handling, control and sailing knowledge.
Sailing with Spinnakers: Introduction to asymmetric and spinnaker sailing.
Racing: Learn the basics of racing rules, starts and tactics.
These courses offer a clear progression from a first sail to confident youth sailing and racing. From Stage 2, members can join free Saturday activities, and by Stage 3, sailors have the skills to sail independently.

24th - 28th August (five days): RYA Stages 1 to 4 and Advanced Modules - places available
1st - 4th September (four days): RYA Stages 1 to 4 and Advanced Modules - places available
19th - 23rd October (five days): RYA Stages 1 to 4 and Advanced Modules - places available
