Horse Race Evening 3rd February

Some thirty plus members and friends gathered for a very convivial Horse Race evening on the weekend.

Race Course Steward Jim Green compered the evening of seven races and Bonnie Green, David Baker, and Jim ran the betting side.

Horses were numbered 1 to 8 and all you had to do was pick a number and buy a ticket for the sum of a £1 coin. If you wished you could buy 8, but that was generous.

We were given a humorous run down of all the horses, then immediately shown the race. The evening was nicely broken up by the meal main course of Shepherds Pie and salad after the first two races, then the pudd after the fourth race.

Punters betted generously, and those who had tickets for the winning horse benefitted. A total of £200 was raised from the proceedings after the prizes which will be split between the Royal Marsden Hospital and Kingston Hospital. This included additional donations.

A fun evening was had by all.
