Tamesis Enterprise Open 2026

The crews of ten Enterprises, two from Tamesis, two from London Corinthian, two from Twickenham, two from Minima and two from Lensbury enjoyed bacon sandwiches while preparing for Tamesis' Enterprise Open Meeting.

The light south-westerly wind was just starting to fill in for the first race. OOD Peter Mason set course P, with a dogleg opposite the Clubhouse. Conditions on the upstream (Canbury) and downstream (Lensbury) marks were difficult, with boats rafting up and drifting down. However, the middle of the course was livelier, with some good speeds across the dogleg. Tim Barr and Alastair Banks, sailing 22816 Sigrun, one of Peter Bide's Enterprises, led the fleet to the downstream mark, where they got tangled up with the Lasers, allowing Iain and Jo McGregor in 23224 Ophelia to sneak past. Iain and Jo held the lead, coming first with Tim and Alastair second. Julian Barker and Corene Vaughn-Hughes in 23273 San Serriffe were third.

The wind had picked up more speed for the second race, making things easier on the upstream and downstream marks, with lively conditions in the middle of the course, although there were some of the usual Tammy wind-holes! At the front of the fleet there was close racing between Iain and Jo and Tim and Alastair, with Tim taking the lead, only to lose it again to Iain and Jo, who again finished first with Tim and Alastair a close second. Chris Rowsell and Zoe Van in 23249 Thunderbird 2 were third.

The final results were 1^st, Iain and Jo McGregor (Lensbury), sailing 23224 Ophelia, 2^nd Tim Barr and Alastair Banks (Tamesis) sailing 22816 Sigrun, and 3^rd Chris Rowsell and Zoe Van (Lensbury) sailing 23249 Thunderbird 2.

Prizes for the Open Meeting Edward Evans Cup and the Enterprise Traveller Series were presented by Marcus Chavasse, assisted by Enterprise fleet Captain Peter Bide.
