Tamesis Annual Regatta Sunday 13th September 2026

This years Tamesis Annual Regatta took place on the day after the very successful revival of the Three Burgee Trophy. Please see news item below. Tamesis welcomed a number of boats from Thames SC and Minima YC who had stayed over night. We were joined by others from Twickenham Regatta who had left their boats at the club over the week after the Minima YC Regatta.

Our Officer of the Day was Matt PJ who along with his assistants held a briefing at 10:15 for a meeting with three races (one before lunch and two after lunch).

The initial course was a simple loop starting upstream, past Stevens Eyot up towards Kingston railway bridge then back to Lensbury mark set just downstream of the start/finish line. The Juniors sailing Toppers were to sail a shorter course all within sight of the club. There was a decent beat above Stevens Eyot while the conditions in front of the club house were shifty and variable. Sailing became quite difficult towards the end of the first race when a rain shower seemed to kill the wind making the last leg quite a challenge for the later starters. After lunch the course was shortened for all classes except the A Raters and two more races were run in the shifty conditions in front of the club house.

We all retired to the club house while the results were processed, and lots of cake and tea were consumred..

A big thanks to Nicky Chavasse and the catering and bar staff for keeping us watered and fed.

Commodore Tim Barr presented the prizes and Paul Browning of Osprey thanked the club for an enjoyable day.
