It seemed that summer might be making an appearance at last the sun shone, and the wind suited good racing blowing from the southwest. A few near spills and white water under the bow made for lots of enjoyment.
Many people are currently away on holiday, and a big fixture on the other side of the world affected turn outs. Several members watched the magnificent Lionesses play against a superior Spanish side on the TV in the clubhouse.
OOD Joe Woods set a loop course starting upstream for the Blue races
Two Merlins turned out for the Blue race Peter and Richard Mason in Bambusa were first and Tim Barr and Peter Impey in Indecision second. The Blue Laser race featured Jim Hamilton and newbie Tamesis member Ilker Sener, the former came second to the latter. Charles Fox and Robert Blakebrough were the lone National 18' in both races.
Turnout improved for the White Races. The course was changed to an upstream start figure of eight.
The Masons dominated the fleet of five, leading all the way round. Racing was close, though the brothers pulled right away in the last round. John Adams and Kris Morcom were second in Saltarello, Charlie and Ben Morgan in Andromeda pulled through to third in the third round.
The Laser race was closer still, places changing throughout. Jim Hamilton led early on, but In the end Ros Warwick Haller won from Ilker, Peter Konidaris coming third.
