Racing Sunday 30th July 2023

On Sunday the blustery wind blew from the south west. Martin Thomas, Race Officer set course P, a figure of eight course in sight of the club which suited the conditions. Turn outs were hit partially by school holidays and the forecast.
Matt Valentine won both the Laser races getting away right from the start. Joe McLaughlin in his Solo was second in the blue race. Jim Hamilton was third in both races, being over taken by Peter Impey in the White race. Lyra Wade sailing a Radial (ILCA 6) rig was never far behind.
The Merlins came out for the White race. Richard Harris crewed by Emma McDonald beat Ken Duffel crewed by Joe Woods, David Baker crewed by Barbara Adams was third.
There was lots of close racing throughout both fleets.
Charles Fox and Ron Williamson in a well reefed Genevieve were the lone racers in the National 18 fleet.
Many thanks to Martin, Alexey Anatskiy, Jim Green, Mark Gardner and Ellen Schwartz for organising the racing.
The clubhouse was crowded after the race with competitors and spectators alike. Many thanks to Josie, Dylan and Greta for providing sandwiches and drinks from the bar.
