Racing Sunday Sunday 11th January

This Sunday was the first in the Annual Travellers Series where Tamesis welcomes sailors from other clubs who can bring their boats and compete in racing until early March.

The stream was running and the mainly southerly wind built throughout the morning. This provided challenging conditions.

Race Officer Chris Taggart set course L with an upstream start and a port hand loop. The course was short keeping competitors well in sight of the club. He arranged to put an additional safety boat on the water.

Some boats retired as the wind strengthened in the second race and there were several nasty gusts. Others capsized just after they had finished.

Sailors and spectators alike enjoyed a drink and lunch in the clubhouse afterwards.
