Social Evening Thursday 4th December - Talk on the Work of the local charity - Habitats and Heritage.
Published 13:35 on 19 Jan 2026
Thursday 4th December saw the second of this winters Supper and Talks.
Stephen Fielding from Habitats and Heritage returned to the Club to talk about the building conservation work of this charity.
Each unique in many ways and bound into the history of the area, Stephen included Sir Joseph Bazalgette's Mausoleum, Lord Kilmorey's Mausoleum, Grove Gardens Chapel and an air raid shelter in Mortlake.
The audience included several visitors including two Bazalgette family members.
Many of the audience who live locally struggled to work out where these tucked-away gems are located. Stephen, as ever, was fascinating with his insights into the lives of colourful historical figures and with his passion for preserving these structures. For those hoping to gain access to some of these treasures, opening dates will appear in the spring on the Habitats and Heritage website.
