Talk by Boatbuilder Mark Edwards

Sixty plus people attended the Supper and Talk on Thursday 5th February. We were delighted to welcome guests from several local clubs, the RNLI, other local communties and friends of members.

The evening started with an excellent two course meal provided by Jean-Michel Velvendrom and his team.

Our speaker Mark Edwards, local Master Boat Builder, gave a fascinating talk on his work over the years. He often does historical research which can lead to new designs and rediscovered techniques. He uses apprentices and works often with a variety of charities, to build open clinker boats from scratch. Apparently it is possible to order an invasion boat and have it delivered in 12-18 weeks. Depending on how busy they are.
